Snowflake Wall Hanging

by Linda Mullins on December 13, 2011

I found some die cut felt snowflakes at Dollar Tree and thought they would make a nice wall hanging. First, I embroidered around all the edges using a blanket stitch. I did this on both snowflakes. I embroidered with royal blue on one and dark blue on the other. Next, I glued gems onto the snowflakes to add some bling. Then I glued the back sides of the snowflakes together. This served two purposes- it made the snowflake stronger and it also made it possible to hide the “bad side” of the embroidery. Last, I took at spool of wire edged ribbon–also bought at Dollar Tree–and used it to hang up the snowflake. I threaded a section of the ribbon through the snowflake and tacked it up to both sides of an arch in the wall of my kitchen. I made two of Linda’s Simple Tree Bows with the remaining ribbon and hung them at the top of the ribbon on both sides of the arch to finish it off. Now if I could just find the time to make a second one for the other arch! I don’t think it’s going to happen this year!
