Today’s tutorial is similar to the previous Sequined Pear Ornament Tutorial. I found some Styrofoam pomegranates in a dollar store that were painted silver. The silver paint was rubbing off, and they were on sale for 25 cents.
I decided buy them and upcycle them for my Christmas tree. After all, I love finding a pomegranate in my stocking. I know I will like having some on my tree!!
First I gathered my materials:
Styrofoam pomegranate
Stretchy sequin tape
Pins
Brown paint, red paint
Tacky glue
Upholstery tack
7 inches of elastic cord for hanging
I painted the stem brown and the crown on the bottom red and let it dry.

I curled the sequin tape around the stem, securing in place with the pins.

I continued to spiral the sequin tape around the pomegranate, pinning as often as necessary for a smooth look. Secure the end of the sequin tape at the bottom with several pins.

Make a square knot in the ends of the elastic cord. Put the tack through the knot.
Put glue on the tack and press it into the pomegranate near the stem. Allow to dry.

Decorate the pomegranate with a bow or other trim, if desired. Your pomegranate is ready for your tree!!
